Plastic packaging and healthy nutrition
The recipe for healthy nutrition is commonly known and easy: we should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Broccoli, cabbage, carrots oranges and grapefruits are said to be the most healthy ones. Moreover, it is good to eat wholemeal bread and lean meat. We also have to avoid eating junk food and fried food, eating in a hurry or irregularly is not advisable.

Although everyone knows what to eat and how to eat, many people are not aware of the chemical processes that take place in food when we use plastic bottles or plastic caps . Producers of plastic packaging bombard us with new, colourful and funny bottles, containers or wrappings and we use them not even thinking how they influence our health. It has been scientifically proved that when we put vegetables into plastic containers, they lose the majority of vitamins and microelements. In addition to that, when chemical substances that a plastic container is made of mix with substances that fruits or vegetables have, the composition of a given fruit/ vegetables changes. A vegetable kept in a plastic container starts producing various chemicals that can be harmful for human health.
Many people tend to pour mineral water from a big bottle into an “old” small plastic one and take it to school or work. It is obviously more comfortable but at the same time, more harmful. Such an old bottle, used many times contains enormous number of micro- organisms and bacteria such as: putrefactive bacteria as well as pyogenic bacteria.
As a result, people get diarrhoea, have indigestion or suffer from stomach ache not guessing what the source of their problem is. The influence of all these harmful chemicals coming from plastic may be also seen after many years and then it can cause much more serious afflictions.
The problem of plastic packaging
The problem is that the majority of people do not pay attention to packaging. They do not have enough time to care about such things or simply cannot afford to buy things which have packaging made of ecological substances. That is why the authorities should introduce some regulations concerning the usage of plastic packaging and raise social consciousness of the influence of plastic on our health.
